5 Fabulous Fashion and Beauty Trends to Follow from LFW

The highly anticipated Lakme Fashion Week bedazzled us with its fashion and beauty highlights. Showcasing a fine blend of ingenuity and tradition, it set the tone for the seasons to come be it for festive, bridal or party. Here we pick five of our favourite looks…

Indo-Western: Graphic Motifs with Peach Makeup

The ensemble:

Beautifully bringing a form to a vision, designer Urvashi Joneja showcased graphics that was an unconventional merger of shattered fragments, which eventually came together as visuals of flying birds like eagles and parrots. We especially loved this flared gown that can be flaunted as an Indo-Western ensemble for the upcoming festive or bridal function. The gold motifs below and appliques on top bring in that festive element, albeit in a subtle manner.

The beauty look:

As seen here, soft lustrous curls make for the ideal accessory for this look. Post a hair shower, you can use a rotating hot iron, blow dry your hair using a round brush to achieve the look. Add in a bit of serum for that sheen. The makeup can be kept fresh and dewy with a peach nude lipstick and mascara.

Formal Event – LBD with Red Lips

The ensemble:

Be it a short or long one, the black dress remains among the ruling fashion stapes. Case in point, Jacqueline Fernandez who slayed the ramp in a flowing, one-shouldered gown of that hue for designer Ashish N Soni. His collection ‘Metamorphosis’ explored the art of reversible clothing through seamless transformation of shapes and styles.

The beauty look:

The mane was left loose with subtle waves. To get the same, ensure that you use a voluminous shampoo and conditioner before styling the hair with a blow dryer. To look like a true diva, opt for a bold red lip like Jacqueline Fernandez and amp it up with a light pink blush, dark eyeliner and heavy eyeliner. You can pick your red shade from Lakme’s 9to5 range lipsticks.

Party Wear- Sparkling Blue Attire with Bold Blue Eyes

The ensemble:

This deep blue design by Pankaj and Nidhi that sparkled with floral motifs surely made head turns. We loved the play of lengths where the short hem was wrapped around in a flowy front open skirt. Perfect for party wear don’t you think? The designer duo’s ‘After Dark’ collection showcased reflective embellishments that accentuate texture against sheen.

The beauty look:

Bored of the smokey eye? How about this bold blue look instead? Let your eyes do the talking with this bright winged eye makeup. Lakme Eyeconic range has colourful kohl pencils to try out the eye look. Keep the rest balanced with minimal makeup and a sleek pulled back hairdo.

Bridal – Ash Rose Lehenga with Peaches and Pink Makeup

The ensemble:

Dia Mirza was a bride to behold while representing Moksha Shah and Hiral Shah ‘Sammohi’ label. She dazzled in a contemporary version of classic bridal wear – a heavily embroidered lehenga, dusky, ash rose pink sleeveless blouse and a sheer dupatta with an embroidered, scalloped border.

The beauty look:

Dia sported a beautiful braided hairstyle with radiant looking skin and rose toned makeup. To achieve this look, fill in the brows to make it appear dark, solid and well defined. Dab on rosy peach blush and glossy peach lipstick for that fresh magic. You can opt for Lakme Eyebrow Pencil to define your brows and intensify the deep black colour. For blush, try Faces Glam On Blush Coral Pink. Most importantly do not forget to tend to your skin with masks for that enviable glow!

Traditional – Silks with Soft Makeup

While there is no denying the charm of a traditional saree, you can totally transform it with the way you drape it. Sushmitha Sen’s sizzling presentation of the kanjeevaram sari for RmKV Silks in collaboration with Sunita Shanker is a wonderful amalgamation of being rooted in culture yet keeping up to the current trends. That’s why it is among our favourites.

The beauty look:

Think traditional and what comes to mind is heavy kohled eyes and chunky accessories. Here, Sushmita proved that you can let the luxurious saree do the talking while keeping it simple overall. Keep it understated but appealing with a good eyeliner, subtle eyeshadow and soft-hued lips. Slick hair with side parting tucked behind the ears, with natural looking blush and lip colours is an evergreen style.

Which is your favourite look and which of the trends do you plan to try this season?
