Skin & Hair Care During Summer Ft Himalaya Herbals

With the onset of summer, we all start worrying about the harsh sun, humidity and the damage caused by continuous sun exposure. Believe me, you can reverse the damage or prevent it by following a skincare or hair care routine. I always make sure to take proper care of my skin & hair during summer to keep them looking healthy. Here are a few tips which can help you too-

Skincare

1. Cleansing:

I am sure you must have read 100 times how important proper cleansing is. I have dry combination skin, which is also prone to acne. During summer, acne gets aggravated because of sweat & dust. So I make sure to clean it twice a day – morning & before going to bed. I like to use a mild cleanser in the morning because skin doesn’t accumulate much dirt during the sleep/night, however for the evening I go for a heavy duty one. For that I am really liking Himalaya Purifying Neem Face Wash or in case you have oily skin you can try Oil Clear Lemon Face Wash. Their cleansers are soap free hence wouldn’t leave skin dry or irritated.

2. Exfoliating:

It’s an essential step in my skincare routine, which I never miss. You should exfoliate your skin twice a week at least to get rid of dry, flaky, dead cells. Try using a gentle exfoliator/scrub and use it when your skin is damp. Since my skin is acne-prone, I like to use Himalaya Purifying Neem Scrub. It’s gentle and works pretty well. Due to Neem’s anti-bacterial properties, it prevents acne breakouts caused by dirt & oil.

3. Face Mask:

I apply a face mask once a week, mostly right after exfoliating. During winters, I like to apply a nourishing mask, but in summers I love clay-based masks since they are known for their deep cleaning properties. I am enjoying Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Fruit Pack, which is a clay-based mask. It refreshes the skin because of the antioxidants & rejuvenating ingredients it has.

4. Toning:

Toner is essential because it corrects the pH balance of the skin. Try using an alcohol free one; otherwise, it will dry out your skin. I personally use Rose Water as a toner, and it works perfectly fine. In case your skin is oily, Himalaya Herbals Refreshing & Clarifying Toner would be a perfect choice, since it removes traces of oil from the skin surface and controls oil secretion as well.

5. Moisturising:

Apply a light moisturising lotion during the day to avoid clogging pores. I personally prefer a moisturiser with SPF content or a sunscreen with moisturising properties. However, you can use a lotion sparingly and then apply a sunscreen. I avoid using greasy, heavy sunscreens and have been liking Himalaya Herbals Protective Sunscreen Lotion, which has SPF 15, so make sure to reapply it after every 4 hours or so. Sunscreen protects skin from sun damage, which later causes pigmentation & ageing. So never ever skip sunscreen even if it’s cloudy outside!  Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays.

Follow a similar routine before going to bed, just replace sunscreen with a moisturising night cream. For those with acne-prone skin, avoid heavily moisturising cream which sits on the top of your skin and try a gel-based formula.

Hair Care

I have dry hair, so washing it every day is not a choice for me. I try to use as mild products as possible to avoid them from looking frizzy and lifeless. These are the products I am using at the moment –

1. Shampoo & Conditioner:

Since during summer we wash our hair more regularly and frequently, using a mild shampoo is always recommended. I am using Himalaya Herbals Shampoo & Conditioner, which is gentle and doesn’t strip moisture from my hair. It has a nice soothing scent as well. Make sure to wash your head at least twice a week to avoid buildup and scalp irritation caused by sweat & dirt.

2. Hair Mask:

I am using Himalaya Herbals Protein Hair Cream at the moment, both as a pre-wash hair pack and post-wash hair styling cream, and I am surprised by how good the product is. It tames the frizz without making hair limp or greasy. The trick is to use as little as possible (post-wash).

Also, once a week, I like to deep condition my hair using a mix of Almond + Castor Oil and leave it on for a good 2 hours. This mix restores the moisture and makes hair shiny and healthy. Castor oil promotes regrowth, and almond oil nourishes them.

Don’t neglect your body, it needs some love too. Don’t think that if it doesn’t look scaly or dry, it doesn’t need moisture. Try not to apply a heavy body moisturiser as the greasy, sticky feel can be a bit uncomfortable. Apply a lotion which is meant for summer time use, like Himalaya Herbals Aloe & Cucumber Refreshing Body Lotion.

I hope you all like this post. Routine is simple yet effective, and the products which I have recommended are affordable and good quality. You can buy these online from bigbasket.com
