We love it when we can whip up effective beauty treatments from what’s readily available in the kitchen. Tomato is one such wonder that promotes fairness, balances the pH of the skin as well as tightens the skin pores for a refined look. The lycopene present in it further helps fights ageing signs to reveal a younger looking skin. Here is how you can use tomato topically for a gorgeous skin!
For toning and tightening pores
Mix equal quantities of tomato juice and honey and pour it into an ice cube tray. When it sets, you can use it to tone your face. Just cover a cube with a muslin cloth and rub over your skin. The ice will also accelerate the process of closing the skin pores.
Summers get us tanned so easily! To combat this, rub a slice of tomato all over your face and neck. Let it sit for few minutes. Meanwhile, make a face pack by mixing 2 tablespoons of yoghurt and few pinches of haldi. Apply this without washing off the face. This pack will remove tan as well as hydrate the skin.
Make a face pack by taking two tablespoons of tomato juice and mixing it into 3 spoons of multani mitti. Mix it thoroughly and apply on your face for 20 minutes. This pack will eliminate all the excess sebum as well as gently exfoliate the skin.
For dark elbows and knees
Do you face a problem with dark elbows and knees? This is likely to happen when dead skin builds up. To remove this, mix equal quantities of tomato juice and baking soda and apply over the desired area. Rub in a circular motion and wash off after few minutes. Apply a moisturiser later to that area. Continue this process thrice a week to get desired results.
Our feet are usually the most ignored part of the body. The situation worsens when it gets deeply tanned in summer. To remove this, you need a scrub. Make an easy one by mixing 2 spoons of yoghurt, 2 spoons of tomato juice, 2 spoons of cane sugar and half a lemon. The cane sugar will exfoliate the skin while lemon and yoghurt will restore the natural colour of skin.
You can opt for this mask to soothe your skin and keep it hydrated. In a bowl, mix aloe vera gel, cucumber paste and tomato juice in the same ratio. Mix it until no lumps and apply onto your face.
Body scrubs are great to get rid of the grime and reveal a smooth and glowing skin. To make one, mix 4 tablespoons of besan with 2 tablespoons of tomato juice and few drops of rose essential oil. Besan will exfoliate the dead skin cells whereas the tomato will make it brighter. Rose oil here will act as a relaxing agent for you to enjoy your bath.
Wishing you a flawless and glowing skin!
