We makeup lovers love buying various products. But when it breaks or dries up, the pain is unbearable, especially when we have saved up on money to get them! But don’t worry, there are some simple solutions you can try at home to fix these sudden and unwelcome situations. Here are some of them…
Powder Makeup
Whenever you drop compacts, powder eyeshadows or that expensive highlighter of yours, all you need to do is calm down and follow some quick and easy steps:
What you need:
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Butter Knife
- Tissue Paper
- Moisturiser Tube
What you need to do:
Step 1: Press your powder makeup with your fingers just to make the surface flat.
Step 2: Pour the rubbing alcohol into the cap of the bottle or a tiny glass and pour it all over the broken makeup. The best part about rubbing alcohol is that it does not change the consistency of the product so it will be exactly the same as before.
Step 3: Smoothen out the surface with your fingers and add a little more of the rubbing alcohol to it. Let it sit for some time. When it’s in a mid-drying stage, use a butter knife to smoothen out the edges.
Step 4: As soon as the product is completely dry, place a paper towel or a tissue paper over it and use the back of any circular product like a moisturiser or sunscreen to flatten the surface.
Voila, your favourite product is same as before!
Lipstick
When your favourite lipstick snaps into two while applying, follow the quick measures to fix it:
What you will need:
- Lighter / Candle
What you need to do:
Step 1: Take the bottom half of the lipstick which is still in the product package and place it over the candle. Let it slightly melt, ensure it’s not runny in consistency.
Step 2: Now melt the other half of the lipstick using the lighter or candle and place the same over the first one with the packing carefully. Let this cool in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
Step 3: Bring the product out and clean the edges. Your lipstick is good as new.
Mascara
Mascara can dry up really quickly. Even if the product is there in the tube, we are unable to use it. There is a way to fix the dried-up mascara to make it as good as new.
What you will need:
- Hot water
- Eye drops
What you need to do:
Step 1: Take all your old dried up mascaras and put them in a bowl filled with hot water. Let it rest there for another 10-15 minutes. This will warm up the product inside the tube.
Step 2: Next, take any of your eye drops solution and pour a few drops inside the mascara tube. Shake it well.
Now the mascara is ready to do its magic on your eyelashes.
Gel Eyeliner
We all love the smooth lines drawn from the gel liners but the biggest issue with them is that they dry up really fast. This can be solved as well.
What you will need:
- Non- scented oil or coconut oil
What you need to do:
Step 1: Put a few drops of coconut oil in the palm of your hand.
Step 2: Take your eyeliner brush, dip it into the oil and work it around the product in the pot. Close the pot and let it stay there for 5-8 minutes.
The gel liner is good to use now.
Liquid Eyeliner
With liquid liners we go through the same heart-breaking experience; they dry up really fast. This can be fixed in minutes.
What you will need:
- Contact lens solution
- Alcohol-based makeup remover
What you need to do:
Step 1: Cleanse the applicator with contact lens solution just to ensure it does not have any lumps.
Step 2: Now move on to the product and add a few drops of any alcohol-based makeup remover to it. Shake well and there you have it, a new liquid eyeliner!
So next time your makeup breaks or dries up, do not panic! You can resort to these little tricks.
