Makeup trends that are doing the rounds

Wondering what makeup to flaunt this time around? Think heavily kohled eyes, monochromatic maroons or metallic shimmers. After all, these were sported by some of our favourite Bollywood beauties. And they are all perfect to try out this wedding season too!

Stun in an all-black look

In the mood for an all-black look? Look no further than Sonam Kapoor who brings the classy into the gothic style.

To recreate this look:

  • Follow your everyday cleansing and moisturising routine before starting with the makeup.
  • Cover up the dark circles or any other pigmentation with good coverage under-eye concealer.
  • Dot the foundation all over the face and neck. Blend well using a sponge or makeup brush.
  • Apply natural-looking eyeshadow all over the lid. Use a shimmery highlighting eyeshadow for the browbone.
  • The bold thick winged eyeliner is the one that takes the prime spot in this entire look. Apply a thick line of black eyeliner and extend it for the elongated tail.
  • The bold winged eyeliner is the perfect style that will complement the all-black attire.
  • For the lips, use a natural-looking lipstick shade. Before applying, opt for a moisturising lip scrub to exfoliate.

Heavily kohled eyes with shiny peach lips

At an event of unveiling the T20 World Cup trophies held in Melbourne, Australia; Kareena Kapoor showed all how to gracefully slay it in the gorgeously embroidered lehenga with heavily kohl eyes.

To recreate the look:

  • For a clear and radiant base, opt for an everyday foundation in the shade that best matches your skin tone.
  • Swipe your cheek with a soft coral or peach blush.
  • Add highlighting details on the cheek high point with the help of a shimmery highlighter.
  • For lips, choose a nude shimmery shiny lip colour or a glossy peach lipstick. This gives more or less an almost natural makeup look.
  • The focus here is the heavily kohled eyes with mildly smokey eye makeup. Use shades of grey and black to create a mild smokey effect on the eyelids and near the lower lashes.
  • Apply intensely black eyeliner and kohl that makes sure to highlight the eyes.

The monochromatic maroon look

The monochromatic trend rules yet again! Take a cue from one of the leading makeup brands in India, Lakme.

To recreate this look:

  • Blend a mousse foundation all over the face and neck.
  • Highlight the details of forehead, cheek, nose bridge, chin, using shimmery highlighter and matte bronzer.
  • Set with compact powder.
  • Go for a weightless mousse lip and cheek colour in your favourite shade. Burgundy lush seems just the right pick for the ongoing season. It will look vibrant and bring energy to the dull winter weather. The flush of similar shade blush on the cheek is the apt idea to flaunt this wedding season.

Hassle-free makeup with metallic shades

Recently, the new line of makeup products under the name Kay By Katrina is making great rounds in the beauty world. The Bollywood queen has herself shown few glamorous makeup looks and shared tutorials with her fans.

To recreate this look:

  • Begin with a cleansed and well-moisturised skin. Application of a makeup primer will hold the makeup products better on the skin and allow it to settle flawlessly.
  • Use your favourite full coverage foundation for an even tone skin look. Mix a tiny bit of shimmers in the foundation if needed for the glow in the skin.
  • Apply a shimmery baby pink blush on the cheeks and extend it all towards the cheekbone.
  • The metallic shades make it all easy to create a stunning eye makeup look though one is not an expert or is very new to makeup.
  • Choose a subtle golden shimmery shade to wear near the inner corner of the eyes. Pick a shimmery metallic shade of bronzed pink or peach and apply all over the lid. Deepen it near the socket and blend it into the highlighter on the brow bone.
  • Sweep a shimmery grey eye shadow near both upper and lower lashes and smudge.
  • Eyeliner and deep black kohl is a must to give a dramatic finish to the entire look.
  • Apply several coats of mascara to elongate and thicken the lashes.
  • Choose a moisturising peach or coral lipstick shade for the lips. Apply a similar shade lipliner before swiping the lipstick.

Minimalistic look is trendy and fashionable

Kareena’s look in the simple pastel yellow knotted dress for the trailer launch of the upcoming film Good Newwz is the one to try in the coming days for her fans. Celebrity makeup artist Mickey Contractor shows us how effective a simple makeup can be on a simple attire. The bare minimum makeup has made this look the best of the season.

To recreate this look:

  • Clean and prep the skin to hold the concealer, foundation, and setting products for long and without any drying up or melting.
  • Once the coverage providing products are blended well, it offers a natural, glowing and radiant look.
  • Concentrate on grooming the eyebrows very well. Apply brow gel to tame and allow it to stay in place. Use a pigmented brow pencil and powder to define and bring about a voluminous dark eyebrow.
  • Brush and allow to set for a well-groomed look of the eyebrow.
  • On the eyelids, give a light sweep of rusty brown or bronze. The eye makeup almost stops here.
  • Just give a finishing touch of a couple of layers of mascara for the lashes to look alive and the neat defining of waterline with a kohl liner.
  • Try giving a dash of green kohl liner to complement the simple yellow dress.
  • Lips look natural in a neutral lip colour. Before applying lipstick, moisturise with a lip moisturiser to maintain glossy pink lips.
