Clay – The beautifying mud

Clay is considered a medicinal and cosmetic tool which is becoming a popular treatment ingredient for several skin conditions. The well-known Queen of Egypt Cleopatra loved using clay for its beauty benefits and so did Queen Nefertiti. It is no secret that a clay mask can be one of the best pick-me-ups for your skin. Today’s beauty market is dominated by products that possess clay as its main element.

Let’s see how we could do some home pampering with clay!

Recipe 1 – Tea Tree Oil And Clay Face Mask

Tea tree oil is known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Along with clay, it helps control excess sebum production and helps reduce acne.

  • 2-3 drops of tea tree oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons of water or rose water (for mixing purpose)

Method

Step 1: Mix clay and water or rosewater in a bowl. Adjust the consistency as per your convenience.
Step 2: Add the tea tree oil to the paste and mix well.
Step 3: Apply the mixture on your face or just the problem areas. Let it dry.
Step 4: Wash it off with cold water.

Recipe 2 – Detox and rejuvenate skin

Bentonite clay is often used as a part of traditional remedies. It has a detoxifying effect and protects the skin from damage. Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is said to have an astringent effect on the skin and helps kill acne-causing bacteria.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tablespoons of Bentonite clay
  • 1-2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional)

Method

Step 1: Mix clay with ACV and make a smooth paste.
Step 2: Add water if the consistency is not smooth.
Step 3: Spread the pack evenly on the face.
Step 4: Let it dry and then wash off with cold water.

Tip: Repeat 2-3 times a week.

Go on and add some muddly love to your skin.
