But with so many makeup brushes flooding the market, it can get a bit confusing.

Makeup brushes form an important part of one’s beauty regime. But with so many of them flooding the market, it can get a bit confusing. Here we break down the uses of different brushes.

Bare Essentials Makeup Brushes

Smudger Brush

As the name suggests, this brush is used for smudging kajal, kohl or any other colour pigments onto the eye. It gives a diffused look and can also be used to add colour on the area near the tear duct.

Angular Brush

This brush makes it easy to define the eyebrows and fill in the gaps. You can also use it to get the perfect winged eyeliner.

Eyeshadow Blending Brush

Small but very dense, this brush effectively blends the eyeshadow. It especially comes handy when two or more colours are appiled on the eye. Blending enables a smooth transition from one colour to another without any harsh lines.

Foundation Brush

A foundation brush is used to apply the foundation onto the surface of the skin. It generally has a flat shape which allows you to use the product as desired. While starting, take only a small amount of it on the back of the hand. Swipe it with the foundation brush and apply it in dots onto the face.

Beauty Blender

Trending in the makeup industry, the beauty blender is used to apply and blend foundation, powder products, cream blushes or any other product. The result is just flawless! The sponge has to first be dipped in water, after which, it expands a little bit and becomes more squeezable. Make sure that the excess water is squeezed out.

Silicone Makeup Sponge

Silicone makeup sponge is the latest beauty tool. It is transparent and flat in shape and can be used to apply and blend all kinds of creams, blushes, foundation, concealers and almost anything. The best part is that it gives full coverage and requires less of the product.

Blush Brush

This brush is usually fluffy and not as dense as the foundation brush. When it comes to blush, we only need only a little coverage. Being fluffy, it deposits only the right amount of product needed on the face. To use, gently dip it into the makeup and take only a small amount. Apply it in an upward motion on to cheekbones.

Eyeliner Brush

Used to define the eyes, this brush is the thinnest one used in makeup. Whenever and wherever the thinnest line has to be made, it comes into use. At times, the brushes that come along with the eye product don’t work well. This is when these come handy as they give a better control over the lining. As they are very precise, they can also double up as a lip liner.

Powder Brush

Powder brushes are used to deposit powder onto the skin. They are very dense and allow an even application of the powder. This makes the skin appear flawless. To use, dip the brush into your loose powder or compact of your choice. Apply it onto the face in circular motions so that the product is evenly distributed onto the skin. Since the bristles are really dense, it lends a smooth finish.

Eyeshadow Brush

This brush is used to pack the eyeshadow onto the lids. Being U shaped, it deposits the colour onto the eyelids in a manner that it attains intense pigmentation.

Stippling brush

These kinds of brushes have a flat end. They give high coverage of the foundation and are also used to apply blush, bronzer, and highlighters.

Fan Brush

It comes in the shape of a fan and is used to highlight areas on the face. Being slim and fan shaped, it deposits only fine particles onto the face. You can use it to highlight the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin.

Contour brush

These are used for contouring products which are to be applied onto the hollow of the cheekbone, the edge of the forehead, under the jaws to give an illusion of a slimmer face.
