Many-a-times, you do not need to look further than your kitchen for beauty remedies. Packed with vitamin C, the humble lemon is one such wonder that can provide solutions to various skin and hair problems. Read on for some simple homemade solutions…
Weekly face pack
A weekly face pack shall take care of the bombardment of impurities and pollution, leaving you with a healthy and radiant skin. To make this, mix 2 tablespoons of multani mitti with few drops of lemon and one teaspoon of honey. Leave it on for 15 – 20 minutes. The multani mitti will help soak up all the excess sebum and secretions from your face. Honey will moisturise whereas lemon will cleanse and make the skin appear brighter.
I’m sure many can relate to the situation where they wish to wear short dresses but their knees seem to appear darker than the rest of the body, making them conscious. Regular scrubbing and moisturising can minimise the darkness to an extent.
To make the scrub, mix one teaspoon of baking soda/powder, half tablespoon of lemon juice and half tablespoon of sugar. You can add few drops of coconut oil for supple skin. Apply this mixture to the desired area and scrub for a minute and leave it for 10 minutes. Later, wash that away with lukewarm water, and apply moisturiser. Doing this twice a week on knees will give you great results.
Tan removal face pack
You can make a pack by mixing yoghurt, lemon and tomato juice in the ratio 2:1:1. The acidic nature of lemon and tomato will help to remove the tan. On the other hand, yoghurt will soothe the skin and make it appear brighter.
Anti-dandruff hair pack
No matter which anti-dandruff shampoo we use, the pesky dots might not go away that easily. Lemon has a solution for this too. Make this pack by mixing one cup of yoghurt and juice of the whole lemon. Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Mix it until you see no lumps. Now apply this pack to wet hair and leave for 15 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo later. This can be done weekly.
Spot acne mark treatment
Those marks left by acne take a long time to fade away. With lemon, you can accelerate this fading process. The trick is simple, just take few drops of lemon juice and rose water, both in the same ratio and mix it. Apply this to the spots where you have marks with the help of a Q-tip. Leave it overnight and in a few days, you will see the difference. Rose water soothes the skin while lemon removes the darkness left of the skin’s surface.
These were only a few things that lemon could do and there are a lot more. Hope these work for you!
