Eyes are the mirror to a person’s soul. But what do you do when this mirror gets tarnished with puffy eyes or dark circles? Eyes are what you notice first, and with the world being masked crusaders for a while now, even more so.

Moreover, the skin around the eyes is fragile and vulnerable. It is the first area that begins to show signs of ageing, like Crow’s Feet or Laugh Lines. With endless hours of screentime, binge-watching shows through the night, late nights, and early mornings, it’s all taking a toll on your eyes. This leads to puffiness and dark circles, which make you look weary and older than you really are. And they are tough to get rid of. But not impossible.

So, we have come up with 5 fabulous ways you can take care of your eyes. A list of DIY creams that will help you combat the problem of puffiness and dark circles. These work so well, you won’t believe your eyes!

What causes dark circles and puffy eyes?

Apart from living on the sleep-deprived, fast-track mode, factors like genetic, unbalanced diet, nutrient deficiency, fatigue, and ill health can contribute to this.

Lack of sleep is another major cause that can lead water to build up under the eyes, which in turn leads to puffy eyes. Additionally, factors like eye strain, not drinking enough water, and of course overexposure to the sun can cause puffiness and dark circles. Either of these factors can cause a problem, so let’s end this annoying

1. Aloe vera and vitamin E

Now that is what we call a powerful combo; Aloe Vera and Vitamin E work wonders in reducing under-eye puffiness and helps in moisturizing the skin too. Take a spoon of Aloe Vera gel and break a Vitamin E capsule in it. Blend well. Apply and wash off after 15 minutes.

2. Turmeric and curd

This is another excellent combination for reducing dark circles. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, whereas Curd soothes and nourishes the skin. Simply take 2 teaspoons of curd and add 1 teaspoon of Curd along with a few drops of Lemon. Mix well and apply to the skin. Rinse after 15 minutes.

3. Almond and avocado

This blend is yet another potent combination for reducing the under-eye nasties. Avocado is an excellent moisturizer and also helps reduce fine lines. Almond rejuvenates skin cells and lessens the puffiness under the eye. For the mixture, take 2 slices of Avocado and mix it with 4 drops of Almond Oil. Apply under the eyes and rinse after 20 minutes.

4. Cucumber and mint

This combination is refreshing, invigorating, and works wonderfully. Cucumbers have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce dark circles and Mint helps to soothe the area. Take a cucumber, clean it, cut it and blitz it with a handful of Mint leaves. Add 4 drops of Coconut Oil. Apply under the eyes and wash off after 15 minutes.

5. Shea butter and lavender oil

The go-to combination to reduce under-eye puffiness, this is a miracle worker.
Shea Butter is loaded with moisturizing properties whereas Lavender Oil soothes and calms the skin. Take a teaspoon of Shea Butter and add 5 drops of Lavender Oil to it. Apply it under the eyes and wash off after 20 minutes.

Other remedies you can easily try:

  • Sleep well. A night of restful sleep is the best remedy. Sleep deprivation will cause dark circles and bags under your eyes.
  • A good diet is very important. Ensure you load up on the vegetables and pulses as these nourish the body and keep you healthy.
  • Hydrate and drink water regularly.
  • Take your vitamins. Vitamin deficiencies can also cause dark circles. Do consult your doctor for the same.
  • Cold milk works superbly. Dip a cotton ball in cold milk and apply it under the eyes. Rinse after 10 minutes.
  • Green Tea Bags make for a resourceful remedy. Dip the bag in clean water and then place it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Once it is cold, place it on the eyes and rinse with warm water in a while.
  • Honey can also help lighten dark circles. Apply Honey under the eyes and wash off after 10 minutes.

And that’s all it takes. Blend. Mix. Apply. Wash. Flaunt. Happy skin! And lastly, relax. Stop overstressing, take it easy. Problems like eye bags and dark circles always have solutions. Keep calm. Because we believe, the only thing that should reach your eyes is your smile.
