Dahi bhalla is a popular street food from North India especially Delhi. It is a delicious soft and fluffy topped with mouth-watering toppings.
The only problem is that the bhallas are deep fried, thereby making it relatively unhealthy. Use this simple tweak to actually make your favourite street food into a healthy snack.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup soaked urad dal
- 1 cup soaked moong dal
- 2 green chillies
- 1 small piece ginger
- 1 pinch baking soda
- 1 tsp oil
- 2 cup of whisked thick curd or yoghurt
- 4 tsp Sweet Tamarind chutney
- 2 tsp Mint coriander chutney
- Few pomegranate seeds
- Chat masala to sprinkle
- Cumin powder to sprinkle
- 2 tsp sev bhujia (optional)
Method:
- Add the soaked urad dal and moong dal with green chillies and ginger to a blending jar, do not add any water blend them very well to get a smooth airy and light batter.
- Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl, add salt and add a pinch of baking soda. Give it a quick whisk.
- Heat an idli steamer with water in the base. Grease the idli moulds with little oil. Pour small quantities of the prepared better, place the idli stands into the steamer and steam for 10-12 minutes or until the bhallas are steamed and fluffy.
- Remove from the idli satnd and let it cool for a few minutes. Give it a quick dip in water to get that perfect bhalla consistency.
- Place 3-4 bhallas in a serving plate. Pour a generous quantity of curd over it. Top it with sweet tamarind chutney and mint coriander chutney.
- Sprinkle chat masala and roasted cumin powder.
- Garnish with pomegranate seeds and sev bhujia and enjoy.
