Self-care and self-love are two things that you should not miss in a busy life schedule. Enjoying a spa session every now and then is a great way to unwind as well as get radiant skin. And no, you do not have to shell out a lot of money for the same. You can enjoy it in the comfort of your own abode. Here are 8 home spa ideas to pamper yourself.
Ambience
Firstly, you need to set the right mood. Start with clearing your bathroom vanity and lighting some candles. You can even fill an atomizer with your favourite essential oil a few hours prior to your spa session. This way, the whole bathroom would be filled with a pleasant aroma. You can even decorate the vanity with some flowers and turn some spa music on. These days, you can get soothing spa music through apps on the internet.
You can try the teatree essential oil as it lends a wonderful aroma.
Clean-up
Now that you have set the right mood, the next step here is to clean your face. Double cleansing is great as it removes all traces of makeup. Start with using an oil-based cleanser and then use a gentle cleanser on the face. This two-step process will leave your skin squeaky clean.
You can opt for a gentle deep pore cleanser.
If you have a cleansing brush use it as it will gently remove dead skin cells through its rotation. To open the pores of the skin further, take a steam (just boil water with the lid on and when it starts to bubble, cover your head with the towel, remove the lid and take the steam in). If you are a bit more creative, you can fill up a tub with lukewarm water, add rose petals to it and use this as steam for the face. This will release the essence of the rose into the vapours and will also tone the skin pores.
Scrubbing
Next, since the pores are open, you should scrub your face with a facial scrub. Choose one with a gentle exfoliant as it would not harm the skin and will save you from over exfoliation. Once your pores are open, it is very easy to remove any alien particles. Now is the best time to remove any blackheads or whiteheads with a tool. If the store-bought scrub is not what you like, then use a mixture of cane sugar and coconut oil.
An apricot scrub is known to work wonders on the skin.
Mask time
Now that all the impurities have been eradicated from your face, you need to pamper it. A good facial mask in the form of a sheet mask or a traditional one can be applied at this time. This is to provide that intense nourishment to the skin. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes before you wash off after a message.
How about a mask for that radiant glow?
Bath time
If you have a bathtub, fill it with some lukewarm water. Throw in some flower petals to get that spa-like experience. You can even add a few drops of your favourite essential oil like lavender oil to the water. In case you have some bath bombs, this will add a fun element to the spa time. Slip into the bath and relax for some time.
You can also add in some drops of rose water for soothing the skin and that pampering feeling.
Shower
Everyone will not have a bathtub. Even a shower is great in your spa time. Have a hot shower, which will open your pores and give you a relaxing feel. Take an exfoliating glove and massage your body with some creamy body scrub. Just scrubbing your face is not enough, the whole of the body should be free from any dead skin cells. Concentrate on the areas where you have hard skin like the elbows and knees. Finish off the shower with a burst of cold water. This will close all the open pores on the skin and will make you feel very calm.
Body butter
After you are out from the shower or out from the bathtub, dry yourself completely with a clean towel. You need to replenish the moisture back into your skin. You can use light body oil that absorbs fast onto the skin if you have normal skin. But if your skin is too dry then you must apply creamy body butter.
You can opt for a cocoa body butter as it deeply moisturises the skin.
Sleep time
All this process would have left you completely rejuvenated. To top it up, spritz your bedroom with some lavender mist. Lavender has properties that calm you down and makes it easier to sleep. A good eight-hours will make it a beauty sleep.
All this spa session would have taken you a couple of hours. But taking some time for yourself every month will have an enormous effect on your overall well-being. No matter how busy you can get in your life, you must include this me time in your monthly schedule. The next morning when you wake up you will feel so happy that you will be inclined to do this spa session every week!
So, what is stopping you from indulging in this spa session?
