Trending beauty looks for the monsoon and how to ace them

As much as we love monsoons for the cool breeze and piping hot scrumptious food that can be relished, the downpour can dampen the look we took so much time to create. To top that, the weather as such seems gloomy and dark. Having said that, this is the best time to let out your creative side when it comes to makeup…

Blue-hued eyeshadow

Monsoons bring discomfort when it comes to makeup since the humidity breaks down all those layers put on our face. To avoid this, you can go for a bare face and keep all the attention onto the eyes. Sophie Turner was seen with a similar look with teal blue eyes, nude lips and minimum face makeup.

How to achieve this look:

Prep your skin well by applying a moisturiser and top it up with a pore minimising primer. You can skip applying a foundation and choose a lightweight bb or cc cream to even out the skin tone. But if you still wish to, go for a waterproof foundation. Add a hint of colour to your cheeks. Take a teal blue eyeshadow and apply it all over your eyelids and lower lash line. Coat both your upper and lower lashes with loads of mascara, but make sure that it’s a waterproof one. For the final touch apply your favourite nude lipstick and you’re good to go!

Ditch that pink blush!

Instead of pink blush, opt for red lips and a red blush and it will instantly make the world of a difference to your face! This look was seen on Emily Ratajkowski in the CFDA Awards which gave us major inspiration goals.

How to achieve this look:

Apply a full coverage waterproof foundation after prepping your skin well. Then brighten up your under eyes, contour your cheekbones, jawline and nose bridge. Groom your brows and make them look sharp enough. Pick up a red blush and apply it on the apples of your cheeks. For the eyes, opt for soft brown toned smoky eye look and define the upper lash line with black waterproof eyeliner. Apply mascara on your lashes and finish the look with a bold matte red lip colour of your choice. This fierce red look is surely going to make heads around you turn!

Pastel winged eyes to the saviour

When you’re running out of time and want to completely skip the face makeup, this is one of the best looks you can opt for. The mint green-winged eyeliner as seen on Naomi Scott highlights the eyes, adding that pop of colour on her face. She doesn’t have any makeup on, and the pastel mint eyeliner flick is the only colour seen on her face which is just what we keep looking for during monsoons.

How to achieve this look:

Moisturise your skin well and apply a pore minimising primer if you feel the need. Apply a bb or cream if you feel your skin is not looking even toned. Next, take a black eyeliner and draw out wings on both the eyes. Then take a mint green eyeliner, or any other pastel coloured eyeliner of your choice and draw another wing on top of the black one. Add loads of mascara to your lashes and finish the look with your favourite nude lipstick. And that’s it! It’s so easy to create and is just perfect during this gloomy season.

Monochromatic greige for the monotoned look

On the days when you feel you want to go all monochromatic, our favourite Priyanka Chopra shows us how to it effortlessly. She was recently seen with greige eyes and lips and all the credit goes to her makeup artist Pati Dubroff. Greige is a mixture of grey and beige tones and flatters all skin tones. PC proved it to us by wearing the colour and going all monotone that she can carry any look so effortlessly!

How to achieve this look:

Keep your base makeup minimal and make it look like it’s your own skin. Next, go for a cool-toned greyish brown eyeshadow all over your eyelids and coat your lashes with lots of mascara. For your lips, choose the similar shade or mix different shades of greys and nudes to achieve a similar tone and apply it. Groom your brows well and make them look fuller and that’s it for the look! This is such an easy yet so different look that you can carry off easily with any outfit!

Berry lips and flushed cheeks

The duo of berry or fuchsia lips with flushed cheeks is surely going to make you look wide awake and youthful in the gloomy season. Elle Fanning was seen with a similar duo along with a black winged liner and we can’t stop obsessing over how young and gorgeous she looks!

How to achieve it:

On the days you wish to skip makeup, just add a pop of berry tone to your lips and cheeks and flick those wings on your lids and that’ll be enough to make you go from nay to yay! Elle skipped her base makeup as well and opted for pink flushed cheeks along with bright berry lips and winged eyeliner. This look will bring back all the light on your face and make you look young as ever!

Try out these looks for this monsoon season and keep experimenting with them according to your style! Let the gloomy weather make you look ever so fresh and young with these different looks and bring back that pop of colour onto your face!
